tag spotlight: accomodation // 19 oct 2018

Every week we’re going to profile a tag on indeqx, explain where it fits in our directory, and profile the amazing groups doing big things in each of these classifications.

This week, let’s talk about…

LGBTQIA+ communities (especially young people) often experience homelessness at higher rates than the general population, with homelessness organisations reporting a large increase in trans and gender diverse clients over recent years.

The reasons why individuals experience homelessness are wide-ranging, however homophobia and transphobia in the family unit or in workplaces can often see people who identify as sexual and gender diverse without accomodation.

Community services offering specialised housing and accomodation solutions for LGBTQIA+ people is of great importance as there are unique issues of discrimination facing our communities.

have we missed something?

If you run or know of an organisation that isn’t listed above, please email [email protected] so we can add it to our queer directory.

Information for this blog was gathered research from the LGBTI Housing & Homelessness Projects.
